Meet Matt Farnell, our newest and youngest team member

I joined Chancellor just a few weeks ago on 2 October, having finished college where I completed a BTEC in Business, for which I received a D*D, a very high mark. I also studied Criminology which is something that interested me.

Now, I have joined the administration team for my first role in financial services. It has been an exhausting first few weeks as I adjust to working life from college, but everyone has made me feel welcome in the office, and are spending time showing me many various tasks and the systems involved.

Prior to college I attended Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) in Wakefield which threw me out of my comfort zone as I knew no one from junior school.

For those five years I was not appreciative of waking up at 6 am every day! Apart from that, though, I had an enjoyable time at QEGS, such as meeting many new people who would become my friends, and being a part of the cricket team.

Since I was very young my dad and my brothers introduced me to football, which I have loved ever since. I am now a season ticket holder at Huddersfield Town, travelling thousands of miles with my family each year just to watch the football.

I absolutely love travelling and have been to around 15 countries, with Japan probably being my favorite – we went as a family to watch the Rugby World Cup in 2019 which unfortunately saw England lose in the final.

Over the next few years, I aim to do more travelling and visit every continent. One of my goals is to see Antarctica, which I’m sure I will achieve soon.

Financial services is a profession I have found interesting since I was in secondary school. I have been immersed in it since I was young, as my dad has been working in the profession for my whole life and my brother, Sam, is also now a part of the firm.
